Excerpt from Glitter Print Blog, Journey to Non Profit:
I did hours of research from the internet to going to the library on how to start a nonprofit. I stared at my computer for about 4/5 months like why aren’t you just writing what I need you to write. I would go to church listen to sermons go home hyped like yes you can do anything it’s in you. All the while missing one of our biggest sayings we are better together. It’s ok to ask for help. That I did during a conversation with my friend Jania who runs a nonprofit and does a million things at once also. I told her she was amazing how did she do it she said I hired my friend to do it that went to school for it. The same person I told you I could connect you with and that would be her help. Lol I realize then I had to learn to accept help and not try to do it all myself.
Once Yolanda was on board it was smooth sailing. We had three conversations and it was done. Mind you I had been doing this for months. She did it in a month everyone has their gifts this was not mine. When we filed the last document I was already claiming that I was going to receive nonprofit status. Family and friends were constantly asking me and I was like we are waiting and praying. Then I had a friend ask me that life hard question when you are doing something and are in waiting what if it doesn’t go thru. I didn’t second guess myself I said I would still fight on because it wasn’t about the status but about the awareness. They then said so where is your blog? I love my friends because they give those gut checking moments that you need.
SO I launched my blog with not a thought of hey this will be the day that your status comes in the mail. That morning I posted my first post and that evening in the mail the letter was in there I was approved. I know God has a purpose for Glitter Print and its far beyond my story. I want him to lead this to where it is supposed to go so I never will wait on because things aren’t lined up in my eyes. I pray the difference Glitter Print makes is world wide because when I read research and statistic that 1 in 20 kids have seizures and 50,000 plus are dying each year I’m more than concerned I’m worried because it is so underfunded and over-looked. I hear so many people tell me that they know someone who has seizure but it’s not that serious. That boils my blood.
So I will always be a tortoise but have my hare friends because I feel like glitter print becoming a nonprofit is a step closer for a win for Epilepsy. Our mission is to give a 100% of our proceeds to the Epilepsy Foundation so they can help further the research in finding a cure and to give a student with Epilepsy a scholarship to go to college and bring awareness where ever we go and don’t go. I pray that in the future that a student turns into students!!!!
Spread a little of your Glitter today!!!!!
